At Life Savers ER in N. Shepherd Drive, we accept most of the Health Insurance Plans. You might have two major questions –
We’ll help you with that!
Life Savers 24 Hour Emergency Room on Shepherd accepts nearly all private insurance plans including Aetna and Humana. We are also an in-network primary care provider for United Health, Cigna, and BlueCross / BlueShield. If and when you require emergency medical care, the Texas Law requires your insurance company to pay for your emergency medical treatments. We honor in-network billing rates regardless of whether we are a part of your insurance network or not. By this, we mean that you will be paying the least possible amount during your visit, which is a certain percentage of the emergency room bill required by your insurance plan. When you are transferred or discharged or done with your treatment, you’ll be asked to pay for the services received at the emergency room co-pay.
Alternative Payment For Care
If you do not have an insurance plan or if you are covered by CHIPS, Medicare or Medicaid, we also accept cash, checks and all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card.
In-Network Vs. Out Of Network Billing
As per the Texas Guidelines, all insurance carriers are required to pay in-network benefits for any member seeking emergency medical treatment. The Texas Law requires your insurance company to pay for your emergency care regardless of whether or not that emergency room is in-network or out-of-network. The Texas State empowers you to use a prudent layperson standard when considering what constitutes an emergency.
In case your insurance company refuses to pay for your emergency room visit, you can file a grievance with the Texas Department of Insurance. You can find out more about the Texas Department of Insurance by visiting their website – www.tdi.state.tx.us.
The billing policy of Life Savers ER always honors the in-network fee for services provided ensuring that you do not end-up with a bill for your emergency room visit that your insurance company would refuse to cover.
Understanding Your Emergency Room Bill
At Life Savers 24 Hour Emergency Room in N. Shepherd Drive, Houston, we are fair and transparent with our billing and want to help you in understanding your bills that you receive from us, which may be slightly different than the bills you may receive from your local hospitals or physicians. We help you with this often complex and confusing billing process.
The Life Savers 24 Hour Emergency Room is a licensed freestanding emergency center. We function just like a hospital-based emergency room, but the billing is quite different. Life Savers 24 Hour Emergency Room submits one claim to your insurance company instead of giving you multiple bills for multiple services you receive at your emergency room, which is often the case with most of the hospitals. We will bill your insurance company for your complete visit and will not be charging them with separate bills for services like radiology, pathology, or cardiology overheads. The total sum of all these services will be compiled in one single bill and submitted to your insurance provider.
Our Billing Policy
Your emergency room co-pay will be collected and will be billed to your insurance carrier for your policy’s emergency room benefits.
Emergency rooms must maintain an extremely high level of preparedness in order to effectively treat emergency medical conditions. This level of preparedness is considerably higher than at other, more traditional medical facilities. For this, emergency rooms levy a facility fee for each patient visit to help offset the recurring costs that come with maintaining the facility with this high level of preparedness. This is done to ensure that you have quick access to an environment that provides the best services in emergency care. The facility fee is calculated on a point system which is based on the procedures performed, patient acuity, potential liability and the complexity of the condition and physician/patient interaction.
In case you have any questions or queries regarding your bill, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you in understanding our billing process and method and to resolve any differences, if any.
